Blog #4

Today I learned how to put an image onto my blog! I also learned that Kerry James Marshall has very strong opinions about racism. The painting that I studied today has many symbols. Some of them are hard to read and I think if I were to look into the history of racism more I might understand some of the symbols and metaphorical pieces in the painting. So my next steps are to research the civil war and history of African American racism. Some challenges that I had in this project were doing all of the technological things, but now that I have everything set up it's getting easier! I still have a lot to get done!! =] Oh but one question I have is should we check out the book that has our painting in it?? and... what if there isn't a relationship between the time period in which the painting was painted and the meaning of the painting??
